        I was born in Cian, China but I grew up in Taiwan. I graduated from National Taiwan University in 1970 and received my Ph. D. from U. C. Berkeley in 1974. Since then I had taught in many universities including SUNY, Buffalo, University of Maryland, UCLA, UC Berkeley & Princeton University. I was trained as a classical harmonic analyst, but in recent years, my research interests are problems in geometric analysis and differential geometry.
