Speaker
:
Prof. Henry Horng-shing Lu (National Chiao Tung University)
Time :
(1) Mar. 3 (Thursday) PM 1:30 - 3:00
(2) Mar. 10 (Thursday) PM 1:30 - 3:00
Topic
:
(I) Introduction to Boolean networks
(http://www.activewebs.ch/schwarzer/rbn/index.htm)
(II) Introduction to Probabilistic Boolean Networks
(http://www2.mdanderson.org/app/ilya/PBN/PBN.htm)
This study group will
aim to study the mathematical problems related to
biological network/pathway analysis, which is one of the most
challenging
problem in the era of functional genomics. Reviews regarding this
research
area are collected in
http://ihome.cuhk.edu.hk/~b400559/arraysoft_pathway.html.
The possible approaches
will include Boolean networks, Bayesian networks, differential
equations, and so forth. Researchers from a variety of disciplines will
get together to stimulate research topics from different perspectives in
mathematics, computation, and biology. The meeting time will be every
Thursday afternoon that starts from March 3, 1:30pm. The first four
weeks will review and discuss the
research topics in
Boolean networks.
The related web sites are

The second four weeks will review and discuss the research topics in
Bayesian networks.
