Abstract:

This intensive course will basically follows the book "Monotone Dynamical Systems” of Hal Smith (1995) and his recent survey paper with Hirsch “ Monotone Dynamical Systems” (2004). We shall first introduce the ODE of cooperative systems as the first example of Monotone Flow. Then we present the monotone flow in abstract space and its basic properties. The application of the theory to 3-dimension competitive system and several biological models will be discussed. Then we apply the theory to reaction-diffusion equations , delay differential equations and maps.
